Trying to dive the Varanger

Posted by njue on October 22, 2010 at 8:49 AM

Well this weekend we are heading to dive the Varanger. For myself I have tried diving this wreck twice this year and so far have been blown out. Lets hope we make it Saturday! Looking forward to having a nice dive with the guys.

Well we headed out in 3-6 foot seas to try and dive the Varanger! Ken and John Thomas were able to tie us in but that?s all the diving that was done. After a bunch of problems including the prop?s getting entangled with the granny line, we finally headed back to the docks. Once we got back to the docks we had a great lunch with the guys. Good job Ken and John with the tie in and untangling the props. Soon we will get back out there????but for now everyone dive safe!!!!

Well I have never been on this wreck but it is suppose to start at 110' and hits sand around 140'. My friends that were actually able to dive the wreck told me there is a washout behind the stern that goes down to 160 +- a few feet.Hopefully we will get out soon and get another stab at this one.
